Bloomberg New Contemporaries at the South London Gallery

Bloomberg New Contemporary returns to the South London Gallery for the first time since 1999. Guest selectors Benedict Drew, Katy Moran (New Contemporaries alumni 2006) and Keith Piper (New Contemporaries alumni 1986) have chosen 57 artists for the annual open submission touring exhibition.

Bloomberg New Contemporaries offers an insight into today’s creative practices, showcasing some of the most dynamic work being made by emergent artists. The exhibition spans the SLG’s main site and the Fire Station, and features drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, performances and video. Migration, borders, cultural and gender identity, as well as the use of technology are strong thematic threads running through the works on show.

Yanghwa, Madelynn Mae Green and Alexi Marshall, which are part of our exhibition Figurative NOW., are all on show at the South London Gallery.

Bloomberg New Contemporaries is an organisation which aims to promote and support the work of the Turner Prize winners of tomorrow.

Its annual exhibition features work by recent graduates of art courses from around the country. In its near 70 year history, New Contemporaries alumni have included the likes of Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Tacita Dean, Anish Kapoor, Grayson Perry and more.

Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018 at South London Gallery: 5 December - 24 February, free entry
